Case summaries
Continuous leak monitoring of plant piping
Company L · Chemical
- Problem
- The pipe was about 5 m above ground, making regular inspection difficult, and had a history of leaks with a high risk of recurrence.
- Approach
- Leak simulation tests at 14 points on site verified that normal and leak signals could be distinguished; since March 2023 the pipe has been continuously monitored with fixed AE sensors.
- Result
- An abnormal signal was captured during operation, and an on-site inspection confirmed an actual leak.
Detecting wear, corrosion and tearing in high-temperature piping
Company H · Chemical · refining
- Problem
- Wear and corrosion accumulated from slight play, leading to tearing and unplanned shutdowns.
- Approach
- After confirming on a test bed that wear, corrosion and tearing could be distinguished, sensors were installed on site from November 2025. Waveguides were used for sections above 200 °C and explosion-proof enclosures for hazardous areas.
- Result
- Abnormal signals were captured in advance, allowing planned maintenance and preventing unplanned shutdowns.
Predictive maintenance for recurring failures in rotating machinery
Company S · Film manufacturing
- Problem
- An excessive universal joint angle caused rotational imbalance, which periodically damaged the gears and motor.
- Approach
- From October 2025, AE, vibration, current and temperature sensors were installed together and linked to web/app monitoring, on-site warning lights and push notifications.
- Result
- Abnormal signals were captured in advance, allowing planned maintenance and preventing unplanned shutdowns.
Detecting micro foreign particles in a drawing process
Company D · Battery can manufacturing
- Problem
- Micro foreign particles entering during high-speed continuous production caused defects, but the process relied on post-production inspection, making immediate response difficult.
- Approach
- Verification was performed by gradually introducing particles of 0.1–2 mm into running equipment.
- Result
- It was confirmed that micro-defect signals could be separated and detected in most cases.
Detecting internal damage in continuously running equipment
Company E · Battery materials manufacturing
- Problem
- The equipment ran 24 hours a day, and micro-cracks accumulating inside could not be seen from the outside.
- Approach
- The site problem was first reproduced on a test bed to confirm that damage signals could be captured, and then the solution was applied to the actual equipment.
- Result
- Abnormal signs inside the equipment can now be detected in real time through changes in the AE signal.
Detecting machine tool tip wear and breakage
Company W · Machine tool manufacturing
- Problem
- Tip wear and breakage during machining could not be known in real time without visual inspection, so action was taken only after defects, noise or vibration appeared.
- Approach
- AE signal changes were measured as wear progressed during continuous machining with the same tip.
- Result
- AE signal levels clearly differed between normal operation and progressing wear or breakage, confirming that tip wear can be tracked in real time and replacement timing determined.
Rather than installing sensors immediately at every site, Rina Solution first verifies through a test bed or field test that normal and abnormal signals can be distinguished before starting continuous monitoring. We can start with the same verification for your equipment.
